Engaging and Empowering Students to Soar toward Excellence
Mission Statement
We, as a community, have a vision where every High Desert scholar is valued and challenged to reach their academic, social, and physical potential while supported by a safe, positive circle of learning, and fortified to become a responsible and productive citizen of the global community.
🧩 Piece by Piece, We Are Building a Masterpiece
Welcome to another exciting year at High Desert School—Home of the Hawks!
At High Desert School, we believe that every student brings unique talents, strengths, experiences, and dreams to our school community. Just like individual puzzle pieces come together to create a beautiful picture, each student plays an important role in making our school a masterpiece.
Our theme this year, "Piece by Piece, We Are Building a Masterpiece," reminds us that growth happens one step at a time. Through academic achievement, character development, creativity, service, athletics, and meaningful relationships, we are helping students discover their potential while contributing to something greater than themselves.
Academic Excellence
High Desert School continues to provide a rigorous and engaging educational experience that prepares students for high school and beyond. Students will engage in challenging learning opportunities through:
- i-Ready Mathematics
- Hands-on science experiences through our science lab and Amplify Science curriculum
- Writing across all subject areas
- AVID strategies that promote organization, critical thinking, collaboration, and college and career readiness
- Data-driven interventions and enrichment opportunities to support every learner
Our staff is committed to helping each student grow academically while fostering confidence, perseverance, and a love of learning.
Character and Leadership
As a proud National School to Watch, we believe that who students become is just as important as what they learn.
Through our AVID Advisory program, Medal of Honor Character Development Program, mentoring opportunities, and school-wide PBIS initiatives, students develop the values of:
- Courage
- Integrity
- Commitment
- Sacrifice
- Citizenship
- Patriotism
Students are encouraged to lead with kindness, respect others, take responsibility for their actions, and make positive contributions to our school community.
Opportunities for Every Student
Whether students are exploring a new interest or pursuing a passion, there is a place for everyone at High Desert School.
Students can participate in:
- Athletics, including JV and Varsity programs
- Music, choir, handbells, and performance opportunities
- Visual and Performing Arts
- ASB and Leadership
- Yearbook
- STEAM and STEM experiences
- Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses
- Clubs, competitions, and enrichment activities throughout the year
We believe that student connection is essential to success, and we strive to ensure every Hawk finds opportunities to belong, participate, and thrive.
Supporting the Whole Child
Our dedicated team—including teachers, counselors, support staff, administration, and families—works together to support students academically, socially, and emotionally.
Through counseling services, restorative practices, PBIS supports, attendance interventions, and strong family partnerships, we are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where students can grow with confidence.
Building Together
A masterpiece is not created overnight. It is built piece by piece, day by day, through hard work, dedication, collaboration, and care.
Thank you to our students, families, staff, and community partners for helping make High Desert School such a special place. Together, we will continue building a school where students are challenged, supported, connected, and inspired to reach their fullest potential.
Here's to another incredible year of learning, growth, and success as we build our masterpiece together!

About Me:
Hi Hawks and Families! Summer was a great time for my family, but I am really looking forward to seeing the campus filled with staff members and students as we begin a new year! I love working at the middle school because I believe that the Middle Matters Most!
Educational Experience:
24 years in Middle School Education
6 years as Principal
18 years Teaching: Math, English, History, PE, Computers, Art, GATE, ASB, Yearbook, Video Production, 2nd and 5th Grade
Goals:
This year, our Hawks will embrace the theme "Piece by Piece, We Are Building a Masterpiece." My goal is to help every student and staff member recognize that growth, achievement, and success are built one step at a time. Each experience, challenge, accomplishment, and connection adds another piece to the larger picture of who we are becoming. I believe in the incredible potential of our Hawks—both students and staff—to contribute their unique talents, work together, and build something extraordinary as we continue our journey as a National School to Watch.
